  • In Loving Memory of Kyndal Vidrine

In Loving Memory of Kyndal Vidrine

Rapides Parish, LA — June 22, 2025 — A deep and painful sadness has fallen over the Oakdale community and all of Rapides Parish following the tragic passing of 13-year-old Kyndal Vidrine, who lost her life in a devastating UTV crash early Sunday morning.

At approximately 12:06 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a fatal accident on West River Road, just south of Louisiana Highway 462. According to investigators, a Can-Am Outlander UTV driven by a juvenile was traveling northbound when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The UTV veered off the roadway and struck a parked Honda Foreman UTV. The impact ejected both juveniles from the Can-Am, as well as the driver of the parked UTV.

Kyndal Vidrine, a passenger in the Can-Am, sustained severe injuries. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where, despite the best efforts of emergency personnel, she was pronounced deceased. The other two individuals involved in the crash suffered minor injuries and were treated at a local hospital. Routine toxicology samples have been collected as part of the ongoing investigation.

The sudden loss of Kyndal has shaken the entire community. She was a vibrant, kind-hearted, and joyful young girl, known for her bright smile, her gentle spirit, and the love she shared so freely with those around her. She touched many lives in her short time, and her presence will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Kyndal was a beloved daughter, a loyal friend, and a student with a promising future. She brought warmth and laughter into every room she entered. Her friends describe her as someone who lifted others up, and her teachers recall a bright young mind full of potential and curiosity. In a world that often rushes by, Kyndal’s presence was a reminder of the innocence, beauty, and promise that lives within every child.

As news of her passing spread, friends, family, and neighbors have come together in shared grief and support. Vigils are being planned in her memory, and messages of love and condolence continue to pour in from across the region. The community’s response speaks volumes about the kind of person Kyndal was — someone who made a lasting impact through kindness, compassion, and joy.

Louisiana State Police have taken this moment to remind the public of the dangers of operating off-road vehicles like UTVs on public roadways. These vehicles are not designed for paved roads, and when operated improperly, the results can be catastrophic. Families are urged to speak with their children about safety, proper supervision, and responsible use.

There are no words to fully express the grief that now surrounds the Vidrine family. A light so bright has been extinguished far too soon, and the pain of that loss is felt deeply throughout every corner of Oakdale and beyond. But in the midst of sorrow, Kyndal’s spirit lives on — in the memories she leaves behind, in the love she gave so freely, and in the hearts of those who will carry her with them forever.

Funeral arrangements will be shared in the coming days. In the meantime, the community holds tightly to one another, united in mourning and love, remembering a young girl whose life, though brief, was filled with meaning.

    Rest in peace, Kyndal Vidrine.

You will never be forgotten. Your light will forever shine.

  • Trenton Mourns Veteran Officer Killed in I-295 Collision

Trenton Mourns Veteran Officer Killed in I-295 Collision

Westampton Township, NJ (June 22, 2025) — The City of Trenton is heartbroken following the tragic death of one of its most respected public servants. Timothy Long, a veteran officer with the Trenton Police Department and a former instructor at the Mercer County Police Academy, was killed early Sunday morning in a devastating crash along Interstate 295 in Burlington County.

According to the New Jersey State Police, the fatal incident occurred at approximately 5:58 a.m. on the northbound side of I-295 near milepost 45.8 in Westampton Township. Officer Long was driving a Honda SUV when, for reasons still under investigation, he lost control of the vehicle. The SUV veered off the roadway, struck a traffic sign, then collided with a tree before catching fire. Long, who was off duty at the time, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The news of Officer Long’s passing has sent waves of grief across the city of Trenton, where he was more than a police officer — he was a role model, a mentor, a teacher, and a friend. Known for his calm presence and unwavering dedication to duty, Long served his community with honor and compassion throughout a distinguished career in law enforcement.

For years, Officer Long not only patrolled the streets of Trenton but also helped shape the future of policing in Mercer County. As a respected instructor at the Mercer County Police Academy, he trained countless cadets, many of whom now serve across departments throughout New Jersey. His lessons extended beyond policy and procedure — he taught integrity, professionalism, and the responsibility that comes with wearing the badge.

“Officer Timothy Long represented everything we value in law enforcement — courage, commitment, and compassion,” said Trenton Police Director Steve Wilson. “He was a mentor to so many and a quiet hero in our department. His death is a tremendous loss for us all.”

Colleagues describe Long as steady and reliable, the type of officer who led by example and never sought recognition. His humility, coupled with his deep knowledge and experience, made him both a trusted leader and a beloved figure within the department.

In the community, Officer Long was just as deeply respected. Residents remember him not only for his service but for his humanity. He was often seen attending local events, speaking with young people, and working closely with families and organizations to foster trust between police and the public. His ability to connect with people — to truly listen and understand — left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

“Timothy was one of those rare individuals who could walk into any room — or any situation — and immediately bring calm and clarity,” said Mayor Reggie Moore. “He served Trenton with his whole heart. Our city is better because he was a part of it.”

The crash remains under active investigation by New Jersey State Police, and no further details have been released at this time.

Officer Long is survived by his family, including children and grandchildren who now mourn the loss of a devoted father and grandfather. His family has asked for privacy during this difficult time, while also expressing gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from the community.

Plans are underway for a full honors funeral service, with law enforcement agencies from across the state expected to attend. The Trenton Police Department has confirmed that they will host a public memorial to celebrate Officer Long’s life and legacy.

As the City of Trenton reflects on this loss, it also remembers the incredible contributions Officer Timothy Long made to the safety, growth, and unity of the community. His name will forever be etched into the fabric of the city he loved and served. His legacy will continue in the lives of the officers he trained, the people he helped, and the department he strengthened with every day of faithful service.

End of Watch: June 22, 2025.

Rest in peace, Officer Long. Your service will never be forgotten.

  • Pine Bluff Community Demands Justice and Transparency Following the Tragic Loss of Two Men

Pine Bluff Community Demands Justice and Transparency Following the Tragic Loss of Two Men

Pine Bluff, Arkansas – The city of Pine Bluff continues to grapple with grief and frustration following the tragic deaths of two men—Maurice Taggart and Phillip Meyers—within a span of just 22 months. What began as heartbreak has now turned into a deeper concern over accountability and transparency within the Pine Bluff Police Department.

The handling of Maurice Taggart’s case under the leadership of former Police Chief Denise Richardson raised serious questions from the start. Many in the community, along with Taggart’s family, feel his case was mishandled, overlooked, and never received the thorough investigation it deserved. Key information was reportedly ignored, and communication with the family was minimal at best.

Now, as the city mourns the recent and tragic death of Phillip Meyers, similar concerns are resurfacing. Troubling signs point to a potential effort to suppress or distort the facts surrounding his death. There is growing speculation that the family name or connections may be influencing the investigation, prompting fears of an intentional cover-up.

Let it be clearly stated: I reject and decline any assistance from officers who were involved in Maurice Taggart’s investigation. Their continued involvement undermines public trust and signals a disregard for impartiality. Families deserve an honest investigation, free from past failures and internal bias.

What is most painful is the consistent lack of transparency and accountability from those entrusted to uphold justice. These families have been left in the dark, their questions unanswered, their pain unacknowledged.

The people of Pine Bluff deserve better. Our families deserve clarity. Our loved ones deserve justice.

More details will be released in the coming days. This is not the end of the story—but it must be the beginning of real scrutiny, reform, and truth.

To the Pine Bluff Police Department: The community is watching. And we will not be silent.
