Tragic Update: Missing Morehouse Student Kyle Coleman Found Deceased in Fairfax County

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — A devastating development has emerged in the search for Kyle Coleman, the 19-year-old Morehouse College student who went missing following a car crash near Tysons Corner. During a prayer vigil held Monday evening, a close family friend shared the heartbreaking news with gathered loved ones: Kyle is no longer with us.

Kyle had not been seen or heard from since the crash near the intersection of Westpark Drive and Galleria Drive. As concern for his well-being grew, the Fairfax County Police Department launched an extensive search operation, deploying detectives, K9 units, drones, helicopters, the Real-Time Crime Center, and the Search and Rescue Team.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., Fairfax County Police announced that a body had been recovered from a small body of water near the area where Kyle was last seen. While the identity has not yet been formally confirmed by the Medical Examiner’s Office, the family has acknowledged the tragic loss.

Kyle Coleman was a promising first-year student at Morehouse College in Atlanta, remembered by those who knew him for his intelligence, gentle spirit, and ambition. His disappearance had sparked concern across both the Morehouse and Virginia communities, uniting friends, strangers, and law enforcement in the search to bring him home.

“This is not the outcome we prayed for,” said a family friend at the vigil. “But we will carry Kyle’s memory with us — his joy, his purpose, and the light he brought to so many lives.”

The details surrounding the initial crash and the circumstances that followed remain under investigation. Police have not released further information at this time but continue to urge anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward.

As the community grieves, the Coleman family asks for privacy and continued prayers. Plans for a memorial service are expected to be announced in the coming days.

Rest in peace, Kyle Coleman. You were deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
Your light lives on in the hearts of all who knew you.
