Remembering Henna Aslam: A Promising Rutgers Honor Student Lost Too Soon

The Rutgers University community is mourning the tragic loss of Henna Aslam, a 21-year-old honors student who passed away in a car accident in New Jersey earlier this week.

Henna was a dedicated student at Rutgers-New Brunswick, majoring in Design at the Mason Gross School of the Arts, with a minor in Business Administration. Known for her creativity, kindness, and ambition, she was deeply involved in campus life and inspired many with her work ethic and positive spirit.

Originally from Vadakara, Kerala, India, Henna moved to the United States with her family 14 years ago and had been living in New Jersey since. She was the daughter of Muhammad Aslam and Sajida Abdulla, and the beloved sister of Hadi, Amal, and Zain Aslam.

The accident occurred while Henna was driving to campus. Reports indicate that she attempted to avoid an overtaking vehicle and was struck in the process. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.

Henna’s untimely passing has left a profound void in the hearts of her family, friends, and the Rutgers community. She will be remembered for her vibrant personality, dedication to her studies, and the warmth she brought to those around her.

The university has offered counseling services to students and staff affected by this tragedy. Details regarding memorial services will be shared as they become available.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Henna’s family and all who knew and loved her during this difficult time.
