One Dead After Overnight Shooting in Northeast Columbus
COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus community is mourning the tragic loss of 28-year-old Jayvon Gore, who was fatally shot in the early hours of Tuesday morning, June 17, 2025. The incident occurred in the North Linden neighborhood and has prompted a homicide investigation by the Columbus Division of Police.
According to authorities, the shooting was reported at 1:04 a.m. in the 1400 block of Oakland Park Avenue, near the E.Z. Oakland Park Plaza. When officers arrived, they found Gore critically wounded. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead at 1:15 a.m.
Investigators say multiple individuals exchanged gunfire in the parking lot of an “after-hours establishment” that Gore had attended. During the exchange, Gore was struck and fatally wounded. In the crossfire, a Columbus Division of Fire station located just across the street was also hit by bullets. No firefighters were injured, and no additional casualties have been reported.
At this time, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The Columbus Police Department is urging anyone with information about the shooting to step forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
