Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on S.R. 23 in Granger
GRANGER, Ind. — A tragic accident on Thursday, June 19, 2025, has claimed the life of a South Bend man following a serious crash involving a motorcycle and a minivan on State Road 23 in Granger.
Authorities have identified the victim as 39-year-old Alex Nelund of South Bend, Indiana. According to officials, the crash occurred along a stretch of S.R. 23 between Adams Road and Park Forest Drive. First responders arrived quickly, but sadly, Nelund was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT) was called to investigate and continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision. Details about the events leading up to the crash or the condition of the other driver have not yet been released.
As part of the emergency response, police shut down a portion of the roadway for several hours to allow for a thorough investigation. The road has since been reopened.
