Man Critically Injured in St. Paul Street Shooting; Police Investigating

Rochester, N.Y. — A 21-year-old man is in critical but stable condition after being shot Monday evening on St. Paul Street, near Emanon Street, in what authorities are calling a targeted incident.

At approximately 5:40 p.m., officers from the Rochester Police Department were called to Rochester General Hospital after receiving a report of a gunshot victim who had arrived at the emergency room on his own. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, who had sustained a gunshot wound to his lower body. He was immediately treated by hospital staff and remains hospitalized.

According to investigators, the shooting occurred at a residence on St. Paul Street, where the victim was present at the time of the incident. The suspect or suspects remain unidentified, and no arrests have been made as of Monday night.

While canvassing the area, officers discovered an unoccupied vehicle that had been struck by gunfire. A nearby residence was also hit, where a 24-year-old adult and a 1-year-old child were inside at the time. Fortunately, neither was injured.

Police temporarily closed off a section of St. Paul Street as they investigated the scene and collected evidence. The roadway has since been reopened to traffic.

The Rochester Police Department is actively investigating the incident. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or provide tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers.

Authorities are continuing to work leads and ask for the public’s assistance in helping identify those responsible.
