Jacksonville Police Investigating Deadly Shooting in Copeland’s Parking Lot; Victim Identified as Kenny Mob
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly shooting that occurred Wednesday afternoon, June 11, 2025, in the parking lot of Copeland’s of New Orleans restaurant on Southside Boulevard near Touchton Road.
The victim has been identified as Kenny Mob, who was found by officers suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
According to investigators, Kenny Mob had gone to the location to meet someone, though the nature of that meeting remains unclear. The shooting prompted a significant law enforcement response around 2:30 p.m., including a police helicopter, drone units, K-9 teams, and multiple patrol officers.
Police are now searching for a black or dark-colored four-door vehicle, possibly a Nissan, that was seen leaving the area. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office confirmed that three individuals were detained at the scene for questioning. It remains uncertain if any of them were directly involved in the shooting or what their relationship to the victim may be.
A perimeter was established with crime scene tape as detectives processed the area for evidence.
Nearby workers described the chaos that followed. Yana Royter, an employee at Brass Tracks Coffee just two buildings away, recalled the frightening moment.
“It all happened so fast,” she said. “Two of my coworkers ran back inside after hearing gunshots. We locked the doors just in case. It was really scary, but I’m grateful police got there quickly.”
