Interstate Shooting Under Investigation in Prairieville Area; Three Hospitalized
PRAIRIEVILLE, LA — Detectives with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office (APSO) Violent Crimes Unit are actively investigating a disturbing interstate shooting that left three individuals injured early Sunday morning.
The incident occurred near the 176 mile marker on westbound Interstate 10 in the Prairieville area, around 2:00 a.m. Deputies were dispatched to the scene following multiple reports of gunfire along the highway.
According to preliminary findings, a vehicle carrying several male occupants was traveling westbound when an unknown vehicle approached and opened fire. Three individuals inside the victim’s vehicle were struck by bullets. Two of the victims sustained critical injuries.
Despite their injuries, the victims managed to exit the interstate and call 911 for help. Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene and transported all three individuals to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment. Their names and conditions have not yet been released.
Law enforcement officials say the motive for the shooting remains unclear, and no suspects or suspect vehicle descriptions have been publicly identified at this time. Authorities are combing through available surveillance footage and seeking witnesses to piece together more information about the shooting and those responsible.
“This type of brazen violence is unacceptable and deeply concerning,” said an APSO spokesperson. “Our detectives are working tirelessly to determine exactly what happened and to hold the individuals responsible accountable.”
