In Mourning: Honoring the Life and Legacy of Officer Gabriel Facio
The Apache Junction Police Department is in deep mourning following the tragic loss of Officer Gabriel Facio, who passed away on June 8 at 1:08 p.m., surrounded by his loving family and closest friends. This is a heartbreaking moment for our department, our city, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Officer Facio was more than a badge. He was a devoted father, husband, son, brother, friend, and a public servant with a genuine heart for people. His presence, both within the department and throughout the community, brought a sense of calm, compassion, and strength. His unwavering dedication to justice and to the people he served will forever define his legacy.
Following Monday’s critical incident, Officer Facio showed incredible resilience and courage. Even in the face of a senseless act of violence, he fought with all the strength he had. In those final days, he was wrapped in love, lifted by the prayers of many, and upheld by the same community he gave so much to.
Now, we mourn the loss of a man who touched countless lives — a man who lived with purpose and served with honor. The pain of his passing is deep and lasting, and we grieve together, not only as a department, but as a family and a city united in sorrow.
A piece of Apache Junction is missing today. Officer Facio’s absence leaves a hole in our hearts and our ranks that can never be filled. But his memory will live on in the way we serve, in the values we uphold, and in the community he helped shape through his bravery and love.
As we move forward in grief, we remain committed to standing with Officer Facio’s family — now and always. They will forever be a part of our AJPD family, and we will walk beside them through the pain, just as Officer Facio walked beside so many in their times of need.
In this time of mourning, we ask the community to join us in remembering Officer Gabriel Facio — to honor his service, to reflect on his sacrifice, and to hold his loved ones close in your thoughts and prayers.
Rest in peace, Officer Facio. Your watch may have ended, but your light remains. We will carry your memory forward with pride, and we will never forget.
