In Loving Memory of Payce Chappell

The 864 Elite Volleyball Club and communities far beyond are mourning the devastating loss of Payce Chappell, a bright, talented, and deeply loved  athlete whose passing on July 1, 2025, has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew her.

Payce was more than a volleyball player—she was a shining light, a teammate who lifted others up, a daughter, a friend, and a joy to be around. Just days before her passing, she led her team to victory on Court 1, helping secure the 12U Championship title. That night, she smiled ear to ear, full of energy and love for the game. She celebrated with her teammates and beamed with the kind of joy only a child doing what they love can truly express.

But life took a tragic and unexpected turn. Not long after that joyful evening, Payce became critically ill. She was placed on a ventilator as her family, friends, teammates, and coaches prayed relentlessly for her recovery. Despite the fierce fight and the overwhelming love surrounding her, Payce’s young life came to an end on the morning of July 1.

As painful as her loss is, those closest to her are clinging to the memory of that final night of joy, and the belief that when Payce left this world, she entered into the arms of her Heavenly Father. The same light she shared on the court is now shining brighter in Heaven.

“On Earth, Payce won a championship with her team. In Heaven, she received a far greater prize—the eternal peace and love of God. Her smile lit up the court, and now it lights up the heavens.”

Payce’s passing has shaken the volleyball community to its core. She was a girl who played with heart and grace, a teammate who encouraged others, and a young spirit who gave more than she ever asked for in return. Her impact went far beyond points scored or matches won—she left a legacy of kindness, dedication, and love that will be remembered always.

To her family, the 864 Elite family stands beside you in your sorrow. There are no words that can soften this pain, but please know you are surrounded by love. Your daughter touched lives far and wide, and we are all better for having known her.

As we grieve, we also celebrate the beautiful life Payce lived. We will carry her memory forward in every serve, every cheer, every game played in her honor.

Rest easy, sweet Payce. You will always be part of this team—our forever #1.
