In Loving Memory of Lloyd Miller
With hearts heavy and spirits burdened by grief, we share the tragic news of the passing of Lloyd Miller, the much-loved owner of the Puppy Wagon, and his loyal co-driver, Willis Bontrager. On Thursday, June 19th, both men lost their lives in a devastating accident on the West Coast—a sudden and heartbreaking tragedy that has deeply impacted all who knew and loved them.
Lloyd was not only a familiar face to many—he was a source of joy, warmth, and quiet generosity. Through the Puppy Wagon, he brought happiness to families and communities across the country. Whether delivering puppies to loving homes or simply sharing a kind word and a smile, Lloyd lived his life with intention and heart. His mission was more than business—it was about connection, about bringing light into people’s lives, one stop at a time.
Alongside him was Willis Bontrager, a faithful partner in that mission. Together, they traveled countless miles, not just delivering pets, but delivering love. The impact they made is immeasurable, and the loss we feel now is equally profound.
In times like these, it becomes more important than ever to come together. Grief is not meant to be carried alone. As a church and as a community, we want to offer space for mourning, for healing, and for comfort.
If you, your student, or a young adult in your life is struggling with this loss or simply needs a place to reflect, we invite you to join us today after the second service—at 1:00 PM in the Riverview Room. Our pastors and elders will be present to pray with you, talk with you, or simply be there beside you. This is a safe space for anyone who needs it.
And please, know this: you are not alone. Our pastoral staff and elder team are here for you—not just today, but in the days and weeks ahead. Whether you need a conversation, a prayer, or a quiet moment with someone who cares, we are ready to walk with you through this season of sorrow.
To the families of Lloyd and Willis, and to all those mourning their loss, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt sympathy. Your pain is shared by an entire community who loved and respected these two remarkable men. May their legacy of kindness, hard work, and compassion live on in each of us.
With love and grace,
Riverside Church
