In Loving Memory of Kelly King
Kingston, Ontario — April 2025

The city of Kingston, along with communities of scholars, athletes, friends, and loved ones across Ontario and beyond, is united in grief following the devastating loss of Kelly King, who tragically passed away in April 2025 at just 26 years old. Her sudden passing has left a profound emptiness in the hearts of all who knew and admired her, as the world says goodbye to a young woman whose spirit, talent, and heart were larger than life.

Kelly was a beacon of light — a brilliant mind, a fierce competitor, and above all, a kind and compassionate soul. A beloved daughter, cherished friend, and role model, Kelly balanced the rigors of academia and the intensity of competitive figure skating with uncommon grace. Her accomplishments in both realms were matched only by her humility and the joy she brought to others.

A graduate of Queen’s University, Kelly excelled in her studies, earning distinction for both her academic excellence and community engagement. Passionate about health sciences and youth mentorship, she had recently begun working in the public wellness field, aiming to make a lasting difference in the lives of others — a mission she pursued with purpose and empathy.

But for many, it was on the ice rink that Kelly’s brilliance shone brightest. An accomplished figure skater, she was celebrated not only for her technical skill and artistry, but also for the joy and dedication she poured into the sport. Whether she was training with teammates, volunteering at local skating clubs, or performing before a crowd, Kelly carried herself with a quiet confidence that inspired younger skaters and impressed seasoned coaches.

To her family, Kelly was the heartbeat of their home — thoughtful, driven, and full of life. To her friends, she was the one you could call in the middle of the night, the one who remembered your birthday without fail, the one who never let you doubt your worth. To the communities she touched — from Kingston to skating circles across Ontario — she was a symbol of excellence, integrity, and grace.

As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate her life: the laughter she shared, the goals she achieved, the people she uplifted. A memorial service will be held later this month in Kingston, where all who knew and loved Kelly are invited to gather, share memories, and honor a life lived with extraordinary heart and purpose.

In this time of immense sorrow, may we hold close the legacy Kelly leaves behind — a legacy of resilience, brilliance, and love. The world is undoubtedly dimmer without her, but her light will continue to guide those who were lucky enough to know her.

Rest in peace, Kelly King. You are forever loved, always remembered, and never forgotten
