In Loving Memory of Jody Dombrowski

May 9, 1967 – June 16, 2025

Buffalo, NY — The Dance Masters of Western New York Chapter 8, along with the greater performing arts community, mourns the loss of Jody Dombrowski a gifted artist, beloved teacher, and cherished friend who passed away on June 16, 2025, at the age of 58.

Jody’s life was a vibrant expression of movement, mentorship, and love. A proud alumnus of the University at Buffalo’s Theatre and Dance program and a former member of the esteemed Zodiaque Dance Company, Jody’s journey as a dancer and choreographer was rooted in both technical excellence and deep human connection.

Early in his career, Jody’s brilliance was evident. He brought energy and artistry to every stage, but it was in the classroom and rehearsal studio where his spirit truly shined. Those fortunate enough to learn from him were guided not only in dance, but in discipline, passion, and purpose.

Jody quickly became a trusted colleague and dear friend within the national dance convention circuit, assisting at workshops and later emerging as a lead choreographer and adjudicator. His warmth was magnetic — students, peers, and audiences alike were drawn to his generous spirit, infectious humor, and unwavering authenticity.

He became a standout performer for the Miss Pennsylvania and Miss New York State competitions, choreographing for televised scholarship events under the Miss America program. His choreography was distinguished by its emotional depth and thoughtful storytelling, often described as “movement wrapped in humanity.”

Jody was also a cornerstone in the lives of countless young dancers, encouraging them to reach higher, move with intention, and embrace their individuality. His artistic impact extended far beyond the studio walls — he was a light in the lives of all who knew him.

Above all, Jody’s heart belonged to his family. He is survived by his devoted husband, William Terry, and their beloved son, Micah Dombrowski Terry, age 13. The bond they shared was built on love, laughter, and mutual admiration, and was the grounding force of Jody’s life.

He is also remembered by a large extended family, dear friends, former students, and fellow artists across the country.

As we grieve his passing, we hold fast to the joy he brought into the world — in every class he taught, every piece he choreographed, and every soul he uplifted.

Now, Jody, may your feet ripple across golden dance floors in the heavens. May your legacy live on in the rhythms you created and the lives you inspired.

Rest in peace, Jody. Until we dance again.
