In Loving Memory of Ellie Cole
Omaha, Nebraska | April 21, 2025

It is with shattered hearts and overwhelming grief that we share the tragic news of the passing of Ellie Cole, a bright and beautiful 16-year-old whose life was cut short far too soon on Monday evening in Omaha.

Ellie was behind the wheel of her Subaru Outback, driving through the intersection of 176th and Q, when tragedy struck. The light was red—but a Ford F-350, driven by 32-year-old Christopher Luke, didn’t stop. In that single, irreversible second, Ellie’s world—and the world of everyone who loved her—changed forever.

Both drivers were rushed to the hospital, but Ellie didn’t make it. Just a sophomore in high school, Ellie had her entire future ahead of her—a future filled with dreams, milestones, friendships, and experiences she’ll never have the chance to see. The weight of that loss is unimaginable.

To know Ellie was to love her. She was full of promise, compassion, and a light that brightened every room she entered. Her laugh, her kindness, and her warm, curious spirit will be remembered by classmates, teachers, friends, and especially her heartbroken family, who are now facing the kind of pain no family should ever have to bear.

As we mourn this devastating loss, we also pause to honor the life Ellie lived—however short, it was filled with moments that touched the lives of those around her. Whether in a classroom, behind the wheel, or simply spending time with loved ones, Ellie was a force of light and love.

Our deepest condolences go out to Ellie’s family, friends, and school community. May you find strength in the memories you shared with her, and may her light continue to shine through the lives she touched. No words can take away this pain, but please know that Ellie’s name will never be forgotten, and her story will be carried in countless hearts.

Rest in peace, Ellie. You were loved beyond measure. You will be missed beyond words.
