With broken hearts, the family, friends, and community of Lewisville, Indiana mourn the sudden and tragic loss of Cody Alan Denney, who passed away late Wednesday evening, July 2, 2025, at the age of 33, following a motorcycle accident.
Cody, affectionately known as “DJ” to those closest to him, was born and raised in New Castle, Indiana. A proud graduate of New Castle High School, he went on to earn two degrees in Business from Ball State University and Ivy Tech Community College—a testament to his determination, intellect, and desire for growth.
Since 2023, Cody worked at HSM Solutions in New Castle, where his leadership, work ethic, and heart earned him a promotion to Plant Manager—a role he embraced with humility and pride. Cody believed in uplifting others and frequently spoke about the legacy he hoped to leave through positive leadership and genuine care for his team.
Cody was a man of many passions. An adventurer at heart, he found joy in traveling, hunting, fishing, and embracing the great outdoors—interests he inherited from his father and shared with his loved ones. He was particularly proud of two off-grid Canadian expeditions where he lived off the land with friends, returning each time filled with excitement and stories to tell.
In 2022, Cody purchased his first Ducati motorcycle, quickly developing a love for the open road. He was looking forward to buying a Harley to ride alongside his sisters and their partners, creating memories that now live only in the hearts of those left behind.
A gym-goer, music lover, and family man, Cody’s presence lit up every space. He was never too busy to check in on his mom, joke with his siblings, or spend time with his niece and nephews, who meant the world to him. Though he had no children of his own, his nurturing spirit made him a father figure to many—especially to his younger brother, Jace, whom he protected fiercely and guided with quiet strength.
Cody’s bond with his girlfriend, Elaina Marino of Miami, FL, was one of true love and mutual support. He adored her deeply and spoke often of the future they were building together. His two dogs, Leo and Sophie, completed his world and were treated with the same affection and care he gave to everyone close to him.
To know Cody was to feel seen, heard, and loved. His infectious smile, booming laughter, and ability to make others feel important left an indelible mark on every life he touched. He was a son, brother, uncle, friend, leader, and light in so many lives—and his sudden absence leaves an irreplaceable void.
Cody is survived by his parents, Terry “Stretch” Denney and Cathy Berrett, both of New Castle; his siblings, Terri Brooke Ewing (Mike Vaccaro), Kati Denney (Dustin Robinson), and Jace Stevens; his treasured niece and nephews, Finley Ewing, Carter Denney, and Brancyn Ewing; his maternal grandmother, Mavis Cole; beloved girlfriend Elaina Marino; aunts, uncles, cousins, and a wide circle of lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Arnold and Brenda Denney; his Papaw John Cole; uncles Brad Denney and Randy Cole; stepmother Linda Denney; and dear friend Todd Stockton.
A Celebration of Life will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle, officiated by lifelong family friend, Rev. Paul Davis. Burial will follow at Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 10 at the funeral home. In Cody’s honor, motorcyclists are encouraged to ride in the funeral procession, symbolizing the freedom and passion that defined his life.
Cody Alan Denney’s legacy is one of love, loyalty, and living life to the fullest. Though he is gone far too soon, his light remains in every heart he touched.
