In Loving Memory of Christopher Dailey, Age 18

With hearts full of sorrow and grief too deep for words, we share the devastating news that Christopher Dailey, a beloved 18-year-old recent graduate of Gloucester High School, will not recover from the injuries he sustained in this week’s tragic accident.

Chris—known to many as a dedicated student, a fierce and passionate athlete, a trusted teammate, and a true friend—remains on life support as he prepares to offer one final, selfless gift: the gift of life through organ donation. In his final moments, Chris continues to embody courage, generosity, and compassion—leaving this world as a hero, giving others hope when his own light fades.

Chris wore #18 with pride, both on the field and on the ice, but more importantly, he carried himself with heart, humility, and integrity in everything he did. Whether it was the way he played, the way he led, or the way he quietly supported those around him, Chris made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was a young man who led not just by example, but with kindness. Coaches admired his work ethic. Teammates leaned on his strength. Friends cherished his laughter, loyalty, and sense of calm. His family—devoted, loving, and proud—watched him grow into someone truly remarkable. Chris had so much life ahead of him, and it is almost impossible to understand how that future could be so suddenly and cruelly taken away.

The outpouring of love and support from the Gloucester community has been both overwhelming and deeply comforting. It is a reflection of how deeply Chris was loved and how wide his influence reached. Messages of sympathy and stories of his quiet leadership have poured in from classmates, teachers, coaches, and neighbors alike. Chris wasn’t loud or boastful—he led by simply being good, and in that goodness, he touched countless lives.

We ask the community to continue lifting Chris’s family in prayer as they face the unthinkable, and to hold space for the other students who were injured in the crash. Their road to healing will be long, and they too carry the emotional weight of this tragedy.

At Gloucester High School, Chris will forever be part of the Fishermen family. His jersey may be retired, but his spirit will never fade. He will be remembered in locker rooms, classrooms, and quiet moments—his absence felt, his presence never forgotten.

Plans for services and remembrances will be shared in the coming days. Until then, we mourn together. We lean on each other. And we carry forward the best of Chris—his strength, his kindness, his light.

Rest peacefully, Chris. You gave us so much more than we ever knew. You were—and always will be—#18 in our hearts.
