In Loving Memory of Captain Lawrence “Larry” Skinner
It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we share the passing of Captain Lawrence “Larry” Skinner, a treasured colleague, mentor, and friend within the Aviation Transport International (ATI) community. Larry’s unexpected departure has left a deep void among those who had the privilege to fly beside him, learn from him, and call him a friend.
Captain Skinner was far more than a seasoned aviator—he was the embodiment of aviation passion. From piloting hot air balloons, to exploring the skies in amphibious aircraft, to captaining transport jets with precision and grace, Larry lived to fly. His curiosity and love for flight were evident in everything he did, and his excitement for the journey ahead was contagious.
Larry’s reputation extended beyond his technical skill—he was a pillar of wisdom, a calm and reassuring presence in the cockpit, and an invaluable mentor to younger pilots. His willingness to share knowledge, his quiet confidence, and his genuine care for others made him a beloved figure across the company and industry.
He had a gift for making people feel seen and supported, whether during a cross-country flight or a simple conversation on the tarmac. His adventurous spirit, warm personality, and steadfast professionalism left a lasting impression that will not fade.
As we mourn this loss, we also honor the life Larry lived so fully. He gave his all to his craft and his community, and his memory will continue to guide us like the steady light of a beacon on a night flight.
We know this loss is deeply felt, and we want to remind all members of the ATI family that support is available. Our Critical Incident Response Program (CIRP) and Pilot Peer Support teams are standing by for anyone who needs someone to talk to.
More details will be shared soon regarding memorial services and ways we can honor Larry’s legacy together.
Rest in peace, Captain Larry Skinner.
Your journey through the skies may have ended, but your spirit will forever soar in the hearts of those you inspired.
🕊️✈️💙
In solidarity and remembrance,
