HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY IN PAULDING COUNTY, GA

Douglasville, GA – A homicide investigation is underway in Paulding County after a man who had been shot drove himself to a local fire station seeking help, only to later succumb to his injuries.

The incident began at approximately 2:25 p.m. on Monday, June 9, 2025, when Paulding County E-911 received a distress call from the victim himself. He reported that he had been involved in a confrontation with a Black male driving a black SUV near the intersection of Ridge Road and Cohran Store Road. During the altercation, the victim said he was shot.

Despite his injuries, the victim managed to drive to Paulding County Fire Station 5, located at 4215 Ridge Road in Douglasville, arriving just before 3:00 p.m. Firefighters immediately rendered aid and coordinated emergency transport.

The victim was rushed to WellStar Paulding Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His identity is being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin.

Detectives with the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office are actively investigating the incident and working to locate the suspect and the vehicle described. As of now, law enforcement has not disclosed the exact location of the shooting, but believe the encounter occurred in close proximity to where the victim made his initial 911 call.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the altercation or who has any information regarding the suspect or the vehicle to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously through the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at (770) 443-3047, or via the Paulding Sheriff mobile app.

“This is an active and ongoing investigation,” said a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office. “We are asking the public to assist us in bringing justice to the victim and his family.”
