Hampton Bays Hit-and-Run Victim Identified as Sara Burack of Southampton

HAMPTON BAYS, N.Y. — A devastating hit-and-run crash in the early hours of Thursday morning has claimed the life of Sara Burack, a 40-year-old Southampton resident and well-known real estate broker. Authorities confirmed her identity late Thursday afternoon, as the search intensifies for the driver who fled the scene.

According to Southampton Town Police, officers responded to a 911 call at approximately 2:45 a.m. reporting a woman lying in the roadway near Villa Paul Restaurant on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays. When officers arrived, they found Burack unconscious and suffering from severe injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

Burack was rushed by the Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Sara Burack was a successful real estate professional, formerly affiliated with Nest Seekers International, and had gained national attention for her appearance on the Netflix series “Million Dollar Beach House.” She was well-regarded in the luxury real estate community for her energy, professionalism, and passion for the Hamptons, where she both lived and worked.

Detectives from the Southampton Town Police Department, along with members of the New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit, responded to the scene and have launched an active investigation. However, no witness statements or details about the vehicle involved have been released as of Thursday evening.
