Four Shot Including Two Children at Portsmouth Graduation Party
PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A graduation party ended in gunfire late Saturday night, leaving four people — two adults and two children — injured in a shooting that has shocked the Portsmouth community.
According to the Portsmouth Police Department, officers were dispatched at 11:44 p.m. to the 400 block of Viking Street following reports of a shooting at a residential gathering. When they arrived, they found four victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victims — whose names and ages have not been released — were quickly transported to a local hospital. Police said all four are expected to survive.
Celebration Turns to Chaos
What was meant to be a joyous occasion marking academic achievement quickly descended into panic. Neighbors described hearing multiple gunshots, followed by people screaming and running for cover.
“It was supposed to be a celebration for the kids. Now, it’s a crime scene,” said one resident who lives nearby.
Investigation Underway
As of Sunday morning, no arrests have been made, and police have not released information on a suspect or motive. Detectives canvassed the area overnight, speaking with witnesses and reviewing home surveillance footage in hopes of identifying those responsible.
