Preliminary investigations reveal that Justin Baron, 26, of Loretto, was traveling westbound on US 68 in a 2002 Dodge Ram when he approached the intersection at a high rate of speed. A passenger in the Sierra, Shirley Norris, 82, of Lebanon, was transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Baron was taken to Spring View Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and later released. Upon his release, he was arrested by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office on charges related to a separate incident that occurred prior to the collision. KSP has confirmed that additional charges related to the crash are forthcoming.
The crash remains under investigation by KSP Post 15. They were assisted at the scene by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Lebanon Police Department, Lebanon Fire and EMS, and the Marion County Coroner’s Office.
