Community Grieves After Deon Haynes Fatally Shot in Buena Vista Township

BUENA VISTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. — April 26, 2025
A somber mood has fallen over the Buena Vista community following the tragic death of 31-year-old Deon Haynes, whose life was violently cut short in the early morning hours of Friday.

Officers with the Buena Vista Police Department were dispatched to the 2900 block of Arlington Road shortly after 4:00 a.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found Haynes suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors fought valiantly to save him. Despite their efforts, Haynes succumbed to his injuries.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. Authorities have not yet identified any suspects or revealed a potential motive, but detectives spent much of Friday canvassing the area for witnesses and gathering surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses.

The violent loss of Haynes has left his family, friends, and the larger community devastated. Loved ones describe him as someone with a kind spirit and a warm heart, whose absence will be deeply felt.
