NEWTON, NC — June 8, 2025 — A massive law enforcement presence descended on North Main Avenue in Newton early Sunday morning after a deadly shooting at the Outlaws Motorcycle Club House. The Newton Police Department, along with multiple state and federal agencies, is currently investigating the incident that left one person dead and another critically injured.

At approximately 2:09 a.m., Newton Police received a call from the Catawba County Communications Center reporting gunfire at the club’s location at 1605 North Main Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel from Catawba County EMS quickly transported both victims to Catawba Valley Medical Center.

Tragically, one of the victims was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The second individual, listed in critical condition, was airlifted to Atrium Health Medical Center in Charlotte for further treatment. Names of the victims are being withheld until next of kin have been notified.

While no arrests have been made, the investigation is active and ongoing. Authorities are currently looking into the possibility that a rival motorcycle club may have been involved in the shooting. Officials have not released any details regarding suspects, motives, or the nature of the dispute that may have led to the violence.

In a statement, the Newton Police Department confirmed the scene is now secure and there is no immediate threat to the public. However, residents are being urged to avoid the area as investigators continue their work.
