Beau Douglas Gibney Killed, Passenger Critically Injured in Cascade Lakes Highway Motorcycle Crash
SISTERS, OREGON — The Central Oregon community is mourning the loss of Beau Douglas Gibney, 36, of Sisters, who was tragically killed in a motorcycle crash on the Cascade Lakes Highway on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. The collision also left his passenger, Joeana Erica Spackman, 34, of Bend, with serious injuries.
According to the Oregon State Police (OSP), the fatal accident occurred around milepost 24 on Forest Service Road 46, more commonly known as Century Drive or the Cascade Lakes Highway. Preliminary investigations reveal that Gibney was operating a black Husqvarna motorcycle when, for reasons still under review, the bike left the roadway and collided with a tree stump off the shoulder.
Emergency responders arrived quickly on the scene, but sadly, Beau Gibney was pronounced dead due to the severity of his injuries. Joeana Spackman, who was riding as a passenger, was found in critical condition. She was airlifted by Life Flight to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment. Her current condition has not been released, though authorities have confirmed she survived the initial impact.
