Baltimore County Middle School Teacher Charged with Assault and Multiple Sex Offenses
Baltimore County, MD — A middle school physical education teacher in Baltimore County has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of sexual offenses and assault involving minors, sending shockwaves through the local education community.
Roger Myers, 61, a longtime employee of Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS), was taken into custody on Friday by detectives from the Baltimore County Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Unit. The charges stem from alleged incidents that took place on school property, according to a news release issued by police.
Online court records confirm that Myers faces multiple charges of sex offense and two counts of second-degree assault. He had been working as a physical education teacher at Deep Creek Middle School since July 2024, although he has been employed with BCPS since 1996. According to school officials, Myers was placed on administrative leave in February 2025, when the investigation began, and he has not had access to Deep Creek or any other BCPS campus since that time.
In a letter sent to families, students, and staff, Deep Creek Middle School Principal Laura Kelly acknowledged the arrest, stating:
“These charges are deeply troubling. BCPS holds its employees to a high standard of character, and this alleged behavior is abhorrent and completely unacceptable.”
Kelly emphasized that the school is cooperating fully with law enforcement and reassured the community that student safety remains the district’s top priority.
Counseling and support services will be made available to students and staff affected by the news. The school has encouraged anyone needing support to contact the counseling office at 443-809-0112.
Authorities are urging anyone who believes they may have been a victim, or who may have additional information, to contact the Crimes Against Children Unit at 410-887-7720 or the Department of Social Services at 410-887-8463 (T-I-M-E).
This case remains an active and ongoing investigation, and no further details about the nature or scope of the offenses have been released at this time.
BCPS also provided parents with resources to assist them in talking to their children about abuse and encouraged families to reach out with any questions or concerns.
