FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — A Father’s Final Act of Love Ends in Tragedy on Father’s Day

What was meant to be a joyful day on the beach turned into a heartbreaking tragedy when 33-year-old Antwon Wilson of Lauderhill lost his life while saving his daughter from drowning in the waters off Fort Lauderdale Beach on Father’s Day

    .

According to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue, the incident occurred Sunday evening around 7:20 p.m., near the B Ocean Resort along Seabreeze Boulevard. Wilson and his family were enjoying the ocean when two of his children became caught in a current and began struggling.

Without hesitation, Wilson entered the water and reached his daughter, managing to keep her afloat amid the rough conditions. But as he focused on her safety, he himself was pulled under.

“She was in the water with multiple other family members,” explained FLFR Battalion Chief Danny Moran. “The father was nearby and able to make it to her and help keep her afloat before he went under.”

Lifeguards and Good Samaritan Rush to Help

Although lifeguards had officially ended their shift just 20 minutes earlier, several were still nearby packing up their gear. Their presence at that critical moment made a life-saving difference. They quickly responded, turning their trucks around and becoming the first on scene.

In addition to the lifeguards, a good Samaritan also jumped into the water to help. He, too, faced danger and was briefly pulled under before managing to escape the surf and return to shore.

Lifeguards were able to reach the child and bring her safely back to land, but by then, Wilson had disappeared beneath the waves.

A Desperate Search and Heartbreaking Outcome

A search effort was immediately launched, and Wilson was soon located underwater. He was pulled to shore, where paramedics performed CPR before transporting him, along with his daughter and the good Samaritan, to Broward Health Medical Center.

Despite the efforts of first responders and hospital staff, Wilson was pronounced dead later that evening.

The young girl and the good Samaritan were both hospitalized but are expected to recover. Officials said the girl was responsive and stable, thanks to her father’s quick and selfless actions.

“We had a lot of good intel because both she and her father called 911 during the incident,” said Trooper Moran. “She was able to communicate just enough to help rescuers understand what was happening. It was a chaotic, heartbreaking situation.”

    A Hero Remembered

Wilson’s death has sent shockwaves through his community. Friends, family, and strangers alike are calling him a true hero — a father whose final act was one of pure, selfless love.

“Antwon died doing what fathers do — protecting his child,” said a close family friend. “He was always putting his kids first. He didn’t hesitate. He gave his life so she could live.”

Social media has been flooded with tributes to Wilson. Photos and memories shared by loved ones paint the picture of a dedicated father, beloved son, and loyal friend with a big heart and infectious smile.

A GoFundMe page has been created to help support Wilson’s children and cover funeral expenses. Community members are also organizing a candlelight vigil to honor his life and legacy.

    A Tragic Reminder

This devastating incident also serves as a reminder of the dangers that can arise, even on a calm day at the beach. Officials urge beachgoers to always swim in areas monitored by lifeguards, to pay attention to ocean conditions, and to keep young children within arm’s reach at all times.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue emphasized that currents can shift quickly and that accidents like these can happen in mere seconds.

    A Father’s Legacy

On a day meant to celebrate fatherhood, Antwon Wilson showed the true meaning of the word “father.” His bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

His daughter will carry his memory for the rest of her life — a life made possible by her father’s final, heroic act.

Rest in peace, Antwon Wilson. Your love lives on.

MOGADORE, OHIO – A Community in Mourning: Remembering the Life and Legacy of Vicki Huth

Mogadore, Ohio is grieving the heartbreaking loss of one of its most beloved residents, Vicki Huth, who passed away on June 14, 2025, at the age of 68. Vicki, the compassionate soul behind Vic’s Blankets & Blooms, was more than just a small business owner — she was a symbol of love, resilience, and community connection. Her passing leaves a deep void in the lives of everyone fortunate enough to have known her.

    A Heart of Service

Vicki’s life was a living testament to the power of kindness. She created Vic’s Blankets & Blooms not for profit, but from a place of pure compassion. What began as a humble effort to sew comfort into the lives of neighbors quickly grew into a movement of giving. Her handcrafted blankets and lovingly arranged flowers weren’t just gifts — they were messages of care, healing, and human connection.

Local hospitals, hospices, and shelters often found themselves the recipients of her generosity. From providing blankets to cancer patients and elderly residents in nursing homes to decorating community spaces with fresh blooms, Vicki gave without seeking recognition. Her acts of compassion were quiet but deeply felt.

    A Life Well-Lived

Friends, family, and neighbors describe Vicki as the heart of Mogadore. Her contagious laughter, her passion for gardening, and her devotion to her loved ones were just a few of the qualities that made her unforgettable. She was the first to show up in a time of need, and the last to leave until everything — and everyone — was okay.

Whether it was organizing holiday drives, hosting blanket-making events with children and seniors, or simply sitting with someone in silence during a difficult time, Vicki practiced empathy in its truest form.

Vicki was a proud wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a woman of unwavering faith, quiet strength, and boundless generosity. She celebrated life’s little joys — a cool breeze on a summer morning, the scent of lavender, the laughter of grandchildren — and taught others to find beauty in the simple and sacred.

    Honoring Her Legacy

In honor of her life, a Community Celebration of Life will be held later this month in Mogadore. All who were touched by Vicki’s kindness are invited to attend, share stories, and remember a woman who made this world a warmer place.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations of blankets to local care centers or contributions to causes that reflect Vicki’s mission of love and service. Even more meaningfully, they invite others to perform small acts of kindness in her memory — to be the comfort in someone else’s day, just as Vicki so often was.

    A Legacy That Lives On

Though Vicki Huth has left this world, her spirit blooms on in every life she touched. She taught us that compassion can be sewn one stitch at a time, and that hope often comes wrapped in something soft and handmade. Her name, her laughter, and her legacy will forever be etched into the heart of Mogadore.

May her soul rest in peace, and may her light continue to guide us toward greater kindness.

Motorcyclist Tragically Killed in Collision with Dump Truck in Durham, Maine

Durham, ME — June 14, 2025 A devastating accident has shaken the town of Durham after a beloved local resident, 32-year-old Coplin Fickett, was killed in a motorcycle collision involving a dump truck on Saturday evening. The crash occurred near 1101 Hallowell Road at approximately 6:12 p.m., prompting an immediate emergency response from several agencies across the region.

    Details of the Crash

According to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office, Coplin Fickett was riding his 1986 Suzuki LS650 motorcycle northbound on Hallowell Road when tragedy struck. At the same time, a 2025 Peterbilt 589 dump truck, driven by 24-year-old Thomas Mosier of Pownal, was exiting the Jaiden Landscaping gravel pit and attempting to turn left, heading south onto the roadway.

As the dump truck crossed into the northbound lane during the turn, Coplin rounded a nearby curve and was suddenly confronted with the large vehicle blocking his path. In a desperate attempt to avoid a collision, he laid his motorcycle down — a maneuver used by riders to minimize impact in emergencies. Unfortunately, the effort was not enough, and the motorcycle collided with the side of the truck.

Coplin was pronounced deceased at the scene by first responders. He had been wearing a helmet and protective gear at the time of the crash. The dump truck’s driver was unharmed, and the truck, owned by Moon Construction Services, LLC, remained at the scene as investigators worked to determine the cause of the incident.

    Emergency Response and Ongoing Investigation

The crash brought a coordinated response from multiple agencies, including:

    • Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit
    • Maine State Police Commercial Vehicle Unit
    • Durham Fire and Rescue
    • Durham Public Works
    • Brunswick Police Department

The Maine State Police conducted a thorough inspection of the dump truck for mechanical issues and regulatory compliance, while sheriff’s deputies reconstructed the scene to better understand the sequence of events. The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed as of this time.

    Remembering Coplin Fickett

The tragic loss of Coplin Fickett has sent shockwaves through the Durham community. Known for his quiet nature, warm heart, and love for motorcycles and the outdoors, Coplin was deeply respected by friends, neighbors, and family. He lived his life simply but meaningfully — always there when you needed him, always willing to lend a hand.

“He didn’t need the spotlight,” said one friend. “He was the kind of person who made others feel grounded — a steady presence, always genuine.”

Coplin’s love for riding was more than a hobby; it was a part of who he was. Friends recall his deep respect for the road, his caution while riding, and his appreciation for Maine’s scenic routes.

Community Mourning and Calls for Safety

The accident has raised new concerns among residents about road safety along Hallowell Road, particularly at the gravel pit’s entrance. The road is known for its winding turns and limited sightlines, making it dangerous for both passenger vehicles and commercial trucks.

“This didn’t need to happen,” said one longtime resident. “That turn is a blind curve. We’ve raised concerns before, but now someone’s gone. What more will it take?”

Local officials are expected to review traffic safety measures in the area, including signage, mirror placement, and traffic flow procedures for large commercial vehicles.

    A Legacy of Quiet Strength

As his loved ones try to come to terms with this unimaginable loss, plans are being made to honor Coplin’s memory. A memorial motorcycle ride is in the works, bringing together fellow riders to pay tribute to a man who lived for the road. A candlelight vigil is also being planned in Durham, where stories, laughter, and tears will be shared in celebration of his life.

While his time here was far too short, the impact Coplin made on those around him will endure. His kindness, loyalty, and unshakable presence will not be forgotten.

    Coplin Fickett

    1993 – 2025

“Gone too soon, but never forgotten. Ride free, Coplin. We’ll see you down the road.”

The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with additional information about the crash to contact them at (207) 753-2599.

Tragic Shooting in Richland County Leaves Woman Dead; Suspect in Custody

RICHLAND COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA — A tragic act of violence unfolded Saturday evening in Richland County, leaving one woman dead and a man in custody. Authorities have identified the victim as Nisaha Blanco, and the alleged shooter as 37-year-old Dexter Fuller, who now faces charges of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that deputies responded to a report of a shooting around 6:30 p.m. in the 4300 block of Candlelite Drive, a residential area located just off Bluff Road. When deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered Blanco lying on the ground near a vehicle, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Deputies immediately began performing CPR in an attempt to save her life until emergency medical personnel arrived. She was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but despite their efforts, authorities say Blanco succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

    Suspect Identified and Arrested

When deputies initially arrived, the suspect had already fled the scene, prompting an active search of the surrounding area. However, through the course of their investigation — which included interviews with witnesses and family members — deputies identified Dexter Fuller as the shooter.

In a surprising turn of events, Fuller returned to the scene of the crime while law enforcement officers were still present. Deputies took him into custody without incident, and he now faces formal charges.

Preliminary Investigation Points to Family Dispute

According to investigators, the incident appears to have stemmed from an argument between Fuller and family members, though the exact nature and details of the dispute remain under investigation. Authorities have not confirmed whether Blanco was directly involved in the argument or how she may have been connected to Fuller.

“Domestic and family-related disputes are among the most dangerous and unpredictable situations we encounter,” said a spokesperson for the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. “This tragedy underscores the devastating consequences that can result when tempers escalate and firearms are involved.”

    Community in Shock and Mourning

News of the shooting has sent shockwaves through the Candlelite Drive neighborhood, a typically quiet and close-knit community. Residents who witnessed the aftermath expressed disbelief and sorrow.

“She was a kind woman — always had a smile,” said one neighbor who asked not to be identified. “I saw the flashing lights and couldn’t believe something so violent had happened right here.”

Friends and relatives of Blanco are mourning her loss, remembering her as a vibrant and loving presence in their lives. Social media has filled with messages of grief and disbelief, as community members try to come to terms with the sudden loss.

    Ongoing Investigation

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the incident. Forensic teams processed the scene late into the evening, collecting evidence and speaking with witnesses. An autopsy will be conducted by the Richland County Coroner’s Office to determine the exact cause of death.

Authorities are asking anyone with additional information, including witnesses or individuals who may have seen Fuller before or after the shooting, to come forward. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC

    Charges and Legal Proceedings

Dexter Fuller has been formally charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He is currently being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, where he awaits a bond hearing. It is not yet clear if he has retained legal counsel.

As the community mourns the loss of Nisaha Blanco, law enforcement officials emphasize the importance of conflict resolution, mental health awareness, and the dangers of escalating domestic disputes — especially when firearms are involved.

**Calhoun County Mourns the Heartbreaking Loss of “Sweet Caroline” Goode, A Beloved Light Gone Too Soon**

CALHOUN COUNTY, ILLINOIS — With hearts full of sorrow and love, the Calhoun County community mourns the tragic and untimely passing of Caroline Goode, a young soul whose radiant spirit and ever-present smile touched countless lives.

Affectionately known by many as “Sweet Caroline,” Caroline Goode was more than just a beloved daughter, sister, friend, and student — she was a source of joy, a symbol of kindness, and a gentle presence who brought comfort and cheer to everyone around her. Her sudden loss has left a profound void in the hearts of her family, friends, and the broader Calhoun County community.

    A Life That Radiated Warmth

Caroline, only in her teens, was known for her boundless enthusiasm and warm personality. Whether it was the way she always offered a helping hand to classmates, her infectious laugh echoing through school hallways, or the thoughtful notes she left for friends going through tough times, she was a constant reminder that small acts of kindness carry deep meaning.

“She had the most beautiful soul,” said one of her teachers at Calhoun High School. “Caroline had this way of making everyone feel important. She lit up every room she entered, not because she was loud, but because she was pure light.”

Friends describe her as an old soul with a youthful heart — someone who loved country music, sunflowers, and baking cookies for her neighbors during the holidays. She was active in her local church youth group, participated in community service events, and volunteered at the public library, often reading to children on Saturday mornings.

    A Community Grieving Together

As news of her passing spread throughout Calhoun County, an outpouring of grief and love surged across the small, tight-knit community. Vigils have begun taking shape — both formal and impromptu — as classmates, family friends, and neighbors gather to remember Caroline’s life. At the steps of her high school, students have placed candles, flowers, and handwritten letters, creating a living tribute to a life that ended far too soon.

“Our community is built on shared values — faith, family, and connection — and right now we are grieving one of our brightest lights,” said Calhoun County Sheriff Rick Glenn. “The Goode family is in our prayers, and we stand with them in their sorrow.”

Counseling and grief support services have been made available to students and community members in the wake of the tragedy. The local school district has brought in crisis response counselors and created safe spaces for students to share their emotions and memories in a supportive environment.

    Remembering “Sweet Caroline”

To those who knew her best, Caroline Goode was a bundle of compassion, curiosity, and boundless energy. She was the kind of person who made friendship feel like home. Whether it was sitting beside someone new at lunch or comforting a friend with a simple hug, she saw people — truly saw them — in a way that made them feel loved.

Her passing has raised a collective sense of heartbreak but also a communal commitment to remember and carry forward her kindness.

“She was the kind of girl who would give her lunch away to someone without thinking twice,” said one classmate. “We all called her ‘Sweet Caroline’ because it wasn’t just a nickname — it was who she was.”

    A Legacy of Love

In honor of Caroline’s life, the Goode family has established the Sweet Caroline Memorial Fund, which will support mental health resources for youth in Calhoun County, as well as scholarship opportunities for students who embody Caroline’s spirit of empathy and community service.

A Celebration of Life service is planned for Saturday, June 21 at 11 a.m. at Calhoun County Community Church, with a reception to follow at the local fairgrounds — a place where Caroline once sold lemonade during summer festivals and danced barefoot in the grass with her best friends.

Attendees are encouraged to wear yellow, Caroline’s favorite color, and to bring a written memory, photo, or letter to contribute to a community scrapbook being compiled for the Goode family.

    A Final Farewell

Though her time with us was heartbreakingly brief, Caroline Goode’s impact will be long-lasting. She lived a life full of kindness, generosity, and radiant joy — the kind of life that challenges all of us to be better, to love deeper, and to look out for one another a little more.

In a world that often feels dark, “Sweet Caroline” was a beacon of light.

And though that light has dimmed here on earth, its glow will carry on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to be touched by it.

The couple’s two young children, now orphaned, are at the center of a growing wave of grief and concern as the city mourns a loss too heavy to bear.

    A Devastating Night

According to the Twin City Police Department and Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office, the events unfolded around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, when officers responded to a 911 call reporting a violent domestic disturbance at a residence in the 100 block of 5th Avenue. When first responders arrived, they discovered Zaria Carr unconscious with apparent gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save her life, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities then discovered that her husband, Shamarcus Carr, had turned the gun on himself shortly after fatally shooting Zaria. He was also found deceased inside the home.

The couple’s two minor children were inside the residence at the time of the incident. Miraculously, they were physically unharmed, but are now left without both parents. They are currently in the care of family members as child welfare services and community leaders rally to provide them with support and stability in the wake of unimaginable trauma.

Deadly Carjacking in State Line Village Ends in Officer-Involved Shooting in Spokane Valley

SPOKANE VALLEY, WA — A violent Sunday morning incident spanning two counties has left two men dead—one a carjacking victim in State Line Village, Idaho, and the other the suspect, fatally shot by law enforcement in neighboring Spokane Valley, Washington.

According to the Spokane County and Kootenai County Sheriff’s Offices, the chaos began shortly before 8:30 a.m. on June 15, 2025, when dispatchers received reports of a violent carjacking and shooting at the Whistle Stop Coffee Shop, located just off Stateline Road in State Line Village. Witnesses said a man approached a customer in the parking lot, forcibly stole their vehicle, and fatally shot the driver before fleeing the scene.

The stolen vehicle was quickly spotted by responding deputies from Kootenai County, but the suspect led officers on a high-speed pursuit across the state line, entering Washington via Interstate 90, reaching speeds up to 140 miles per hour, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies in Spokane Valley joined the pursuit, attempting to contain the threat as the suspect exited the freeway near East Trent Avenue and North Pines Road. Authorities say the chase came to an end shortly after the suspect crashed the stolen vehicle. At that point, the suspect reportedly exited the vehicle while armed.

What followed was a confrontation with deputies from both counties. Officers report the suspect failed to comply with repeated commands and instead raised a weapon. At least one deputy opened fire, striking the suspect. Despite life-saving efforts at the scene, the suspect was pronounced dead.

The identity of the carjacking victim has not yet been publicly released, pending notification of next of kin. Authorities confirmed the man died at the scene in State Line Village from gunshot wounds.

“This was an extremely volatile situation that unfolded across two jurisdictions,” said a Spokane County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson. “Our deputies responded swiftly to a dangerous, armed suspect, and while the outcome is tragic, we are grateful no further lives were lost.”

Both East Trent Avenue and North Pines Road, as well as parts of Stateline Road, were shut down for hours as crime scene investigators worked across multiple locations to collect evidence and reconstruct the timeline of events. The Spokane County Major Crimes Unit, alongside the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, is leading the investigation, which includes reviewing body camera footage and interviewing multiple witnesses.

As is standard procedure in any officer-involved shooting, the deputies involved have been placed on administrative leave pending a full investigation.

Residents in both communities have expressed shock and sadness, with some stopping by the Whistle Stop Coffee Shop to place flowers in memory of the slain carjacking victim. Others took to social media to voice concern over the increasingly brazen nature of violent crime.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the motive behind the carjacking, but initial statements indicate the suspect may have had a criminal history and mental health concerns.

Anyone with information or who may have witnessed any part of the incident is asked to contact the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office or Crime Check at 509-456-2233. An autopsy is scheduled for both the victim and the suspect, and further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.

This tragic event highlights the unpredictable and devastating nature of violent crime, reminding communities on both sides of the state line to remain vigilant and support one another in times of tragedy.

The death of Cody Paradee is not only a personal loss for his loved ones but a tragic reminder of how fragile life can be. As Enosburgh comes to terms with this loss, many are calling for increased road safety awareness and urging caution at rural intersections.

Cody’s spirit — adventurous, generous, and full of life — will live on in those he touched. Though he is gone far too soon, the legacy he leaves behind will endure, etched in the hearts of a community now forever changed.

“I Was Sober When I Was Shot Outside Born’s Bar” — A Young Mother’s Plea for Justice

ST. PAUL, MN — What should have been a peaceful family evening turned into a life-altering nightmare for 22-year-old Lex Rogers, a devoted mother, who is now fighting for justice and recovery after being shot five times outside Born’s Bar on Rice Street in St. Paul.

Lex had just taken her 2-year-old daughter to Chuck E. Cheese and McDonald’s, enjoying a wholesome evening together. Later, she drove to Born’s Bar, not for a night out — but simply to pick up her mother. She never stepped foot outside of her vehicle.

“I was sober. I haven’t smoked in two years. I quit drinking two months ago,” Lex stated. “I stayed in my car the entire time. I was just trying to go home.”

But her night took a horrifying turn.

As she sat in her vehicle with her daughter, a car pulled up beside her. Sensing danger, Lex began to plead. She told them her child was in the car. She begged them not to shoot. But her pleas were ignored. The gunman opened fire — five shots were fired, and every single one hit her.

    Stomach. Shoulder. Back. Side. Thigh.

She was bleeding, in agony, but she remained conscious until doctors put her under for emergency surgery.

Today, Lex is 22 years old, learning how to walk again. She’s eating through a tube, recovering with a colostomy bag, and unable to care for her child the way she once could. She is living proof of survival, but also a symbol of injustice — because no one has been held accountable.

“I am a mother. I did not deserve this,” Lex said. “My baby was in the car, right next to me. I begged them. They didn’t care.”

The trauma of that night lives with her. Every day is a battle. And while she fights to heal physically and emotionally, the individuals responsible for the shooting remain free.

This was a targeted, unprovoked, and vicious attack on a young woman who was doing nothing more than being a mother — showing up for her child and family.

“I’m only 22. I should be at home with my daughter, holding her, teaching her, loving her. Instead, I’m stuck in a hospital bed, trying to survive.”

Lex’s story is more than a tragedy — it’s a call to action. A plea for help. She is begging the community to come forward.

“If anyone knows anything — anything at all — please speak up. I need justice. My daughter needs her mother. This wasn’t right, and I refuse to stay silent.”

Lex Rogers deserves answers. She deserves justice. Her daughter deserves a mother who isn’t haunted by fear and unanswered questions.
