Allentown Mourns the Loss of Michelle Tavares, 22

The Allentown community is grieving the unexpected passing of Michelle Tavares, a 22-year-old nurse whose life was tragically cut short on April 17, 2025, at Jefferson Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia. Michelle was a dedicated healthcare professional and a beloved daughter, sister, and friend.
Born on May 16, 2002, in Allentown, Michelle was the daughter of Agustin D. Tavares and Elizabeth Almonte. She graduated from William Allen High School in 2020 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Villanova University. For the past eight months, Michelle had been working as a nurse in Philadelphia, where she was known for her compassion and dedication to patient care.
Michelle was a member of St. Paul’s R.C. Church in Allentown. In her free time, she enjoyed playing Minecraft, painting, drawing, photography, and shopping. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family and her two beloved cats.
She is survived by her parents; siblings Christian D. Tavares, Justin D. Tavares, Zully Tavares, Sebastian D. Tavares, and Einar D. Tavares, all of Allentown; and her maternal grandmother, Librada Urena.
In accordance with the family’s wishes, funeral services will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home in Allentown.
Michelle’s passing is a profound loss to her family, friends, and the community she served. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
