A Life Lost Too Soon — Tragedy on Ojibway Island

 

SAGINAW, MICHIGAN — June 23, 2025 — With heavy hearts, the Saginaw community mourns the tragic loss of Gabrielle Marie , whose body was recovered from the waters near Ojibway Island on Monday afternoon. Her passing has left a deep sense of sorrow among family, friends, and the many lives she touched.

The incident began when the Bridgeport Police Department received a call concerning a possible suicidal individual near Ojibway Island. The Saginaw County Sheriff’s Office responded swiftly, deploying the Saginaw County Dive Team to search the surrounding waterways.

After several hours of intensive search efforts, divers located Gabrielle’s body at approximately 12:30 p.m. on the south side of Ojibway Island. Her identity was confirmed later that day.

The Saginaw County Sheriff’s Office is currently leading the death investigation, and an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, June 24, 2025, to determine the official cause and manner of death.

Gabrielle Marie Young was more than a name in a headline — she was a human being with dreams, memories, and a presence that mattered.
