The community of Evansville is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Maria E. Guetling, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, and friend, who was tragically killed in a head-on collision on Tuesday, June 16, 2025, on North St. Joseph Avenue.
Maria, just 31 years old, was a vibrant soul who touched the lives of many with her warmth, compassion, and unwavering love for her family. She was the devoted mother of two young children and the heart of her home. Her life was cut short in an instant due to a senseless act — a crash caused by an impaired driver. While her child miraculously survived with minor injuries, the emotional scars left behind are immeasurable.
Those who knew Maria describe her as someone who could light up a room with her smile and make anyone feel at ease with her kindness. She dedicated her life to her family and found joy in the everyday moments — bedtime stories, shared meals, and quiet laughter that now echo as cherished memories.
As the Guetling family grieves this unimaginable loss, they are surrounded by a community holding them close in thought and prayer. Her husband is left to navigate life without his partner, and her children will grow up with only stories and photos of the beautiful woman who gave them life and loved them endlessly.
