Kianna Jackson Identified as Victim in Tragic Brandon Shooting
BRANDON, Miss. (June 16 2025) — The city of Brandon is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 25-year-old Kianna Jackson, who was killed Monday evening in a tragic shooting near a McDonald’s located at 132 Stribling Lane. The incident, which also left the suspected shooter injured, has shocked the community and left loved ones devastated.
According to Brandon Police Chief Joseph French, officers responded to the scene around 6:51 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered Kianna suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity was officially confirmed on Tuesday by Rankin County Coroner David Ruth.
Nearby, police also found a second person — identified as the suspect in the shooting — who had suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Emergency personnel rendered aid, and the individual was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Their current condition remains undisclosed.
