The Trinity High School community in Manchester, New Hampshire, is mourning the sudden and tragic loss of 16-year-old Lauren Souza, a beloved junior who died in a single-car crash early Easter Sunday.
The accident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on April 20, 2025, on Back River Road near the intersection with County Road in Bedford. According to police, Lauren’s vehicle veered off the road, struck a utility pole, and rolled over into the parking lot of Peter Woodbury School. She was the sole occupant of the car and was pronounced dead at the scene .
Lauren was a standout student and athlete at Trinity High School. She maintained a 4.5 GPA, ranking first in her class, and was recently elected vice president of the school’s National Honor Society chapter. She was also an active member of the student council, multicultural club, DECA, and the school’s 40A Robotics team, which reached the state quarterfinals. Athletically, she played on both the volleyball and girls’ lacrosse teams .
In response to the tragedy, Trinity High School and St. Joseph Junior High School canceled classes on Monday, April 21. The schools opened their doors from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to provide counseling support for students. A Mass was held to honor Lauren’s memory, attended by hundreds of students and faculty members .
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Bedford police. The community continues to grieve the loss of a young woman remembered for her intelligence, leadership, and vibrant spirit.
