In Loving Memory of Gregory “Cal” Calvin
Beloved Friend, Colleague, and Lead Audio Engineer
It’s hard to put into words the depth of loss that so many of us are feeling right now as we mourn the passing of Gregory Calvin—known to nearly all of us simply as “Cal.” His sudden departure has left a silence that feels louder than anything we ever mixed through a soundboard.
Cal wasn’t just an incredibly skilled lead audio engineer—though his talent, precision, and ear for detail were unmatched. He was the heartbeat behind countless productions, the one who could make the impossible sound effortless. His expertise turned good work into great work, and great work into something unforgettable. But even more than what he did, it was who he was that made him irreplaceable.
Cal had a quiet confidence, a sharp wit, and a calm presence that grounded everyone around him. He was the one you could count on—whether the mics were failing, the pressure was mounting, or someone just needed a kind word between takes. He led not with ego, but with humility and grace. And he never asked for the spotlight, even though he helped make sure it shined on everyone else.
To know Cal was to know warmth, loyalty, and a deep love for the craft—and for the people he worked alongside. He lifted others up, mentored with patience, and showed up every day with a work ethic rooted in care and integrity. He was not only a master of sound, but a sound soul—the kind of person who left you better than he found you.
As we grieve this enormous loss, we also celebrate the gift of having known him. We’ll carry his laughter, his lessons, and his legacy with us—on every set, in every booth, and through every story we tell.
To his family, we extend our deepest condolences. Your loss is shared by all of us whose lives Cal touched. May you find comfort in knowing how deeply he was loved and respected.
Rest easy, Cal. You made the world sound better—and feel better—just by being in it. You will never be forgotten.
