FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Fayetteville Police Department has announced the arrest of two suspects following an intensive investigation into a shooting incident that occurred on May 21, 2025, at the Wendy’s restaurant located at 2070 Skibo Road. The incident, which took place during a busy evening at the fast-food location, left one individual seriously injured and sparked significant public concern.
In the days following the shooting, detectives with the department’s Violent Crimes Unit worked tirelessly to identify those responsible. Surveillance footage, witness interviews, and forensic evidence led investigators to two suspects — one juvenile and one adult.
Juvenile Suspect Charged
A juvenile suspect has been taken into custody and formally charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury. Due to the suspect’s age, their name and further identifying information are being withheld in accordance with state privacy laws. Detectives obtained a custody order, which has since been served, and the suspect is currently in secure juvenile detention.
The juvenile’s involvement in the shooting is believed to have been significant, though the full extent of their role remains under investigation. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of additional charges or related arrests as the case progresses.
Arrest of Quincy Case
The second suspect, identified as Quincy Case, an 18-year-old Black male, was apprehended on June 1, 2025, following a brief but dangerous vehicle pursuit. Fayetteville Police attempted a routine traffic stop, but Case refused to comply and fled the scene in a stolen vehicle. Officers engaged in a controlled pursuit that ended with Case’s arrest. No injuries were reported during the apprehension.
Following his arrest, Case was charged with multiple offenses directly related to the May 21 shooting:
- Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill
- Discharging a Firearm into Occupied Property
In addition to the shooting-related charges, Case now faces several charges resulting from the pursuit and vehicle-related offenses:
- Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle
- Felony Flee to Elude Law Enforcement
- Careless and Reckless Driving
- Operating a Vehicle Without an Operator’s License
Case is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $20,000 secured bond. His initial court appearance is scheduled to take place later this week. Authorities have confirmed that Case was known to law enforcement prior to this incident and may have ties to local gang activity, although that angle remains under investigation.
Community Impact and Ongoing Investigation
The shooting at Wendy’s rattled both patrons and employees, many of whom were present when gunfire erupted. Emergency services responded quickly to the scene, providing medical assistance to the injured individual and securing the area for investigation. The victim, whose identity has not been publicly released, sustained serious injuries but is expected to recover.
Detectives have emphasized that the investigation is still active, and additional leads are being followed. Anyone with further information related to the incident is encouraged to contact Fayetteville Police or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
