TORONTO, ON — Patrick Burwell, a cherished pillar of the Canadian theatre community and a beloved music theatre professor at St. Lawrence College, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 6, 2025, at the age of 56.
Patrick leaves behind a lasting legacy marked by artistic brilliance, mentorship, and unwavering dedication to the stage. Over the course of his remarkable career, he was involved in more than 90 productions, bringing stories to life as a gifted performer, visionary director, and passionate musical leader. His work shaped stages across the country and left an indelible mark on generations of artists.
At St. Lawrence College, Patrick was more than a teacher—he was a mentor, a guide, and a champion of young talent. His students remember him for his razor-sharp wit, fearless honesty, and relentless pursuit of artistic truth.
