One Dead, Two Injured in Shooting Outside Cache 42 Nightclub

A night out turned tragic in southeast Memphis as gunfire erupted outside Cache 42 lounge on Saturday night, leaving one person dead and two others injured. The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) has launched an active homicide investigation following the deadly incident that took place in the parking lot of the club located at 4202 Hacks Cross Road.

Deputies were dispatched to the scene shortly after 10:05 p.m. after receiving reports of shots fired. When authorities arrived, they found a chaotic scene and learned that three individuals — two adult men and a teenage male — had already been transported to local hospitals for treatment of gunshot wounds.

According to SCSO, two of the victims were listed in non-critical condition. However, the third victim was critically wounded and later succumbed to his injuries. The identity of the deceased has not yet been publicly released pending family notification.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and no arrests have been made as of Sunday afternoon. Investigators spent hours at the scene overnight, combing the area for evidence, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses. Several shell casings were recovered from the parking lot, but it is not yet known how many shooters were involved.

Cache 42 is a popular nightlife venue in the area and was reportedly hosting an event on Saturday evening that drew a sizable crowd. Witnesses described a loud altercation preceding the shooting, but details remain scarce as detectives work to piece together what led to the violence.

Residents and business owners in the Hacks Cross corridor expressed growing concern about late-night safety in the area.

“This used to be a quiet part of town,” said a nearby shop owner. “But lately, these incidents are becoming more frequent, and it’s terrifying for families and businesses alike.”
