Two Injured in Overnight Shooting Along Waccamaw Boulevard
HORRY COUNTY, SC — A night in the Myrtle Beach area turned violent shortly after midnight when gunfire erupted along Waccamaw Boulevard, leaving two people injured and prompting a swift response from Horry County authorities.
The Horry County Police Department (HCPD) confirmed that officers were dispatched to the scene in the early hours of Sunday, June 8, following reports of shots fired in the unincorporated area of Waccamaw Boulevard, a stretch that sees steady foot and vehicle traffic due to its proximity to hotels and tourist destinations.
Upon arrival, officers found two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency responders provided immediate care before transporting both victims to a nearby hospital. Their conditions have not been publicly released, and authorities have yet to identify them.
The area was quickly secured as investigators from the HCPD’s Major Crimes Unit began collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and canvassing nearby businesses for surveillance footage. At this time, no arrests have been made, and the motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
Authorities have not stated whether the shooting appeared to be a targeted incident or a random act of violence. The investigation is active, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
