VICTORIA COUNTY, TEXAS — A devastating rollover crash on U.S. Highway 59 has claimed the life of Emma Kay Friar, a 24-year-old woman from Victoria, leaving family, friends, and the entire community in mourning. The crash occurred early Tuesday morning, just before 7 a.m., near Spur 91, and continues to be investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Authorities report that Emma was driving northbound on Highway 59 when her vehicle unexpectedly left the roadway for reasons that remain under investigation. The car reportedly overturned multiple times, and Emma, who was ejected from the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emma Kay Friar was a beloved daughter, friend, and community member remembered for her compassion, joyful spirit, and unwavering support for others. Those close to her describe Emma as a “light in every room,” someone who always made time for others and had a gift for making people feel seen and loved.
She was a graduate of Victoria East High School and had attended Victoria College, with dreams of continuing her education and eventually opening a small business. Her passion for helping others extended into her personal life, where she volunteered with animal shelters, local food banks, and youth mentorship programs.
“Emma had a heart of gold,” said one family member. “She loved animals, cared about people, and always wanted to do something that would leave the world a little better than she found it.”
