Driver Arrested After Two Killed in Car and Coach Crash Near Brechin

Angus, [April 26] — A tragic collision between a car and a coach has left two young people dead and another seriously injured near Brechin, Angus.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on the B9134 shortly after 6:15 p.m. on Friday, following reports of a crash involving a blue Vauxhall Corsa and a Mercedes coach.

Tragically, two passengers in the car — a 19-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man — were pronounced dead at the scene.

The car’s driver, a 19-year-old man, sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment. Authorities later confirmed he had been arrested in connection with a road traffic offence.

Police have launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

The B9134 remained closed for several hours as collision investigators examined the scene.

“Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those who have tragically lost their lives,” a Police Scotland spokesperson said.
