Search Underway for Missing 15-Year-Old Kara Nez; Authorities Seek Public’s Help
April, 2025 – Navajo Nation / West Jordan, UT
The Navajo Police Department, in collaboration with the West Jordan Police Department, has issued a public alert and launched an active search for 15-year-old Kara Nez, who was reported missing on April 20, 2025.
Authorities believe Kara left her home voluntarily but under circumstances that have raised significant concern. Investigators say she is believed to be in the company of an adult male identified as Luige Gaucin. The nature of their relationship has not been disclosed, but police are urging the public to remain alert and report any sightings immediately.
Kara was last seen in the West Jordan area, though officials believe she may have traveled beyond local jurisdictions. Both departments are working closely with state and tribal law enforcement agencies to expand the search and coordinate efforts.
“Kara’s safety is our top priority,” said a spokesperson for the Navajo Police Department. “While we believe she left on her own, there are indicators that suggest she may be at risk. We are urging anyone with information to come forward and help bring her home.”
Kara is described as 5 feet 4 inches tall with long dark hair and brown eyes. Further details about Gaucin’s identity and vehicle, if any, have not yet been released to the public.
Anyone with information about Kara Nez or Luige Gaucin’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Navajo Police Department or the West Jordan Police Department immediately. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through local Crime support
