Virginia Giuffre, Epstein Accuser and Advocate for Survivors, Dies by Suicide at 41
April, 2025 – Western Australia
Virginia Giuffre, the woman whose courage and testimony helped uncover the vast reach of Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking network, has died by suicide at the age of 41. Her family confirmed that she passed away Thursday night at her home in Neergabby, a rural area of Western Australia.
“It is with utterly broken hearts that we announce that Virginia passed away last night at her farm in Western Australia. She lost her life to suicide, after being a lifelong victim of sexual abuse and sex trafficking,” her family said in a statement.
Giuffre, born Virginia Roberts, became one of the most prominent voices for survivors of sexual abuse after going public with allegations that she had been trafficked by Epstein and his associates as a teenager. Her story helped catalyze global awareness around the issue of human trafficking and inspired countless others to come forward.
In addition to testifying against Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, Giuffre famously accused Prince Andrew of sexually abusing her when she was 17—a claim he has denied. The case was settled out of court in 2022, with Prince Andrew making no admission of guilt but agreeing to a financial settlement that supported Giuffre’s victim support organization.
She later founded the nonprofit SOAR (Speak Out, Act, Reclaim), formerly known as Victims Refuse Silence, dedicated to empowering survivors and raising awareness about sex trafficking. Her tireless advocacy made her a symbol of resilience and justice in the face of deeply entrenched abuse.
In recent months, Giuffre had been open about personal struggles, including health complications following a car accident that left her with kidney damage, and legal and familial issues stemming from her separation from her husband. Despite these hardships, she continued to fight for the rights of survivors.
Virginia is survived by her three children, who she often described as her greatest reason for continuing the battle against exploitation. Her family has requested privacy as they grieve and asked that her legacy be honored by continuing the fight for those without a voice.
Her death has sent ripples of sorrow through communities of advocates and survivors across the globe. Tributes have poured in from supporters, journalists, and legal figures who credit her with helping to shine light on some of the darkest corners of abuse.
Virginia Giuffre’s bravery sparked a global reckoning—and though she is gone, her voice will continue to echo in the fight for justice.
