A tragic single-vehicle crash early Friday morning has claimed the life of a young Huntsville man and left another person seriously injured.

According to Huntsville Police, the wreck occurred shortly after 4 a.m. on Patton Road when a car veered off the roadway, slammed into a telephone pole, and caught fire. Emergency crews responded quickly, but the vehicle was already engulfed in flames when they arrived.

Madison County Coroner Dr. Tyler Berryhill confirmed that Evan Allen, 23, was killed in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second occupant of the vehicle sustained severe injuries and was initially transported to Huntsville Hospital before being transferred to the burn center in Birmingham for further treatment. His current condition has not been released.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and authorities have not yet determined whether speed, impairment, or other factors played a role in the incident.

As friends and family mourn the sudden loss of Evan Allen, the community is rallying in support of his loved ones. Details regarding funeral arrangements are expected in the coming days.

The Huntsville Police Department urges drivers to remain cautious, especially during early morning hours when visibility is low and roads can be more dangerous.
