Temple Community Mourns the Loss of Emily Grace Meyer, 30, in Tragic Highway 36 Crash

The Temple community is grieving the sudden and tragic loss of Emily Grace Meyer, a 30-year-old resident who died in a fatal car accident on State Highway 36 near Belton Lake. The crash occurred on Thursday, April 24, 2025, during wet road conditions.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Emily was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu eastbound on SH 36 when she lost control of her vehicle on the wet roadway. Her car crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by a 62-year-old man from Hamilton. Officials stated that the Malibu was traveling at an unsafe speed for the road conditions. Emily was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup was treated for injuries.
