 – April 24: A Tribute to My Grandfather

On this day, April 24, my heart always grows a little heavier. It’s the day I lost a man who meant everything to me—my grandfather. Not just my elder, but a pillar in my life. A force. A compass. A teacher. A protector. A quiet giant whose influence stretches far beyond the years he spent with us. He played a vital role in the legacy that I now carry forward, and I feel honored—deeply honored—to share pieces of that legacy through my own voice, through my videos, through the comedic skits that, on the surface, may make people laugh, but at the core, are woven with values, strength, and stories that began with him.

He was a man of prayer. A man who lived by principles. He taught me something that I carry to this day and will pass down to generations to come: “Honor your mother and father.” It wasn’t just a commandment from scripture for him—it was a lifestyle. He showed me that honoring those who gave us life wasn’t just about obedience; it was about gratitude, respect, and continuing the story with purpose.

He reminded me, no matter where I go or how high I rise, to never forget to pray. Even in silence, even when no one sees—pray. That simple act connected him to something greater, and through him, it connects me.

I’ll never forget him. Never.

His presence still walks with me. It shows up in my instincts, my decisions, my love for family, and in the resilience I carry when life tests me. He may not be physically here, but I know he’s watching, nodding, and maybe even laughing at my jokes from the other side. He’s in the details of my life—the smile I give after a successful video, the warmth in my voice when I speak about where I come from, and the strength in my back when I face challenges.

And yet, there’s a part of me that still aches.

He deserved more.

He deserved more than a quick service. More than a short funeral. He deserved more than a formal military salute—though he earned that with honor. He deserved a celebration that matched the depth and breadth of the life he lived. A gathering that poured love, memory, and reverence into every corner of the room. A space where people could cry, laugh, reflect, and truly feel the magnitude of who he was.

But instead of dwelling in what was lacking, today, I choose to reflect on the good. I choose to let joy live in the middle of the sorrow. I choose to let his legacy speak louder than any silence that followed his passing.

Today, I not only reflect on his past—but on the future. The legacy that will continue through me, through the family I will create, and through every soul touched by the work I put into this world. I’m not just living for me anymore. I’m building something with intention, with love, with memory… with him in mind.

To my grandfather—thank you. Thank you for laying the foundation. Thank you for the values. Thank you for the prayers. Thank you for loving us in your own strong, quiet, unforgettable way.

You may be gone in body, but your legacy is loud in my life. And today, as I look forward, I walk forward with your strength in my steps.

I’ll keep making people laugh. I’ll keep telling stories. I’ll keep building.
And I’ll never forget to pray.

Rest well, Miss. Renee’s Daddy. Your legacy lives on.
